The Hymn Society of Great Britain and Ireland

The Hymn Society was founded in 1936 to encourage study and research in the field of hymnody, promote good standards of hymn-singing, and sponsor relevant publications. They hold an annual Conference, and their website offers a series of downloads on different aspects of hymnody, which may be of interest to anyone who has responsibility for choosing, leading or teaching hymns, whether clergy or lay. They have also reissued many articles from their Bulletin as pdf downloads, going back to the 1930s, on various aspects of hymns, hymn tunes, hymn books and psalters.
