The Tudor Organ – a film by Magnus Williamson
Magnus Williamson, Professor of Early Music at Newcastle University, presents a film on Tudor organs and organ music, featuring the Wetheringsett organ (part of the Early English Organ Project) built in 2002 by Goezte & Gwynn. Magnus discusses issues around the performance of sixteenth-century organ music, including the Tudor vocal tradition, the practice of alternatim, organ pitch at the time, and what we know about contemporary performance practice in terms of tempo, articulation and fingering.
